Already there is a new generation of players to have emerged from the Challenge Tour in the past few seasons who look capable of developing into Major Champions and Ryder Cup winners.
Players like Marc Warren, the 2005 Challenge Tour Number One, and Martin Kaymer have already won huge titles, with Marc making the breakthrough at the 2006 Scandinavian Masters and last year’s Omega Mission Hills World Cup in partnership with Colin Montgomerie, and Martin winning the 2008 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship before finishing second to Tiger Woods at the 2008 Dubai Desert Classic.
The 2007 Challenge Tour graduates look likely to continue that trend. Michael Lorenzo-Vera, last year’s Rankings winner, as well as Ross McGowan, Edoardo Molinari and Joost Luiten have the talent and nerve to go all the way, while Felipe Aguilar of Chile, who finished third on the Challenge Tour Rankings last season, has already tasted success on The 2008 European Tour International Schedule by winning the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open.
