A multiple Emmy-award winning producer, Suratt oversees NBC Olympics’ business and new media development group. In this role, he manages all facets of the NBCOlympics.com website, including the multi-million dollar sales effort, implementation of new technologies, as well as the overall content and design. During the 2004 Athens Games, the site attracted an historic 13 million unique visitors, topping its previous record of 7 million. Additionally, his purview includes managing the business and sponsored partnerships and new media initiatives across all mediums; the creation of marketing and branded sales plans and enhancements for the Olympic sales team; as well as designing both sponsored and non-sponsored programming elements. During his tenure with NBC, Suratt has worked three Summer Olympics and one Winter Games, collecting six Emmys along the way, as well as begun preparations for the 2006 and 2008 Games in Torino and Beijing, respectively. After the Atlanta Summer Olympics, he worked on the 1997 & 1998 NBA on NBC regular and post-season productions – earning an Emmy for the 1997 NBA on NBC Finals coverage – and the 1997 National League Championship Series & World Series broadcasts. As the supervising producer for the 2000 Sydney Games and 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games, Suratt played an integral role in NBC’s overall execution and production. He was charged with managing the day-to-day production business; hiring 250 production personnel; staff and venue production budgeting; and venue site surveys. Suratt also oversaw the content and on-air cross promotion for NBC’s official website, NBCOlympics.com. In addition in 2002, Suratt managed and booked the Olympic Medals Plaza musical acts, which resulted in such marquee performances from the Dave Matthews Band, Foo Fighters, Barenaked Ladies, and ‘N Sync, and was dubbed, “the hottest ticket” around by USA Today and Access Hollywood. He began his career as a broadcasting associate for the NBA in 1993 and spent two years as the NBA’s on-site liaison with NBC, its network broadcast partner. Suratt received his Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in corporate and managerial economics from Middlebury College and his MBA in finance and marketing from Stern School of Business, New York University. He currently resides in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., with his wife and two sons. |
