Candie kung started to play golf at the age of 13, she won the Pacific-10 championship in 2000 and the America Public Course Championship in 2001.

In 2003, she participated in 30 competitions, and won the winner for 3 times and top 10 for eighttimes. She ranked into the top 16 of U.S. Amateur Women's Open and was sent to the university forthe excellent score。

Kung came close to winning the 2009 U.S. Women's Open. She finished the tournament at one over 285 and was tied for first till Eun-Hee Ji birdied the final hole to take home the title。
