Se Ri Pak

　　Born September 28, 1977in Daejeon, South Korea

　　Se Ri Pak only startedplaying golf at age 14. A track star in high school, she developed powerfullegs that served her well as a golfer as she was able to create remarkablestability and balance in her swing. Despite her late start, Pak won 30 amateurtournaments in South Koreabefore turning pro in 1996. Over the next two years she competed in fourteenevents on the Korean LPGA, winning six and finishing second in seven others。

　　She tied for first atLPGA Q-School in 1997 and joined the tour in 1998. Pak’s first win was a major,the 1998 LPGA Championship, and her second was the 1998 US Women’s Open.  She was named 1998 LPGA Rookie of the Yearand Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year。

　　Over the next severalyears Pak proved herself as a consistent competitor, with four wins in 1999 andfive wins each in 2001 and 2002. In 2003 she competed in a Korean men’s tournamentand finished tenth. She also won three times on the LPGA that year. She went onto win the LPGA Championship in 2006, and has long been considered a pioneer ofthe sport, opening the door for other Korean golfers to follow.  Pak was inducted into the World Golf Hall ofFame in 2007.
