Lorena Ochoa

　　Born November 15, 1981 in Guadalajara, Mexico

　　Lorena Ochoa grew up next door to the Guadalajara Country Club and tookup golf at just five years old. She won her first state event at six, and herfirst national event at seven. All told, as a junior, Ochoa captured 22 stateevents in Guadalajara, 42 national events in Mexico, andfive consecutive titles at the Junior World Golf Championships。

　　In 2000 Ochoa enrolled at the University of Arizona, where she wonNCAA Player of the Year Awards in 2001 and 2002, and was named to the NationalGolf Coaches Association 2001 All-American.         

　　In 2001 Ochoa was presented with Mexico’sNational Sports Award by Mexican President Vicente Fox, becoming the youngestrecipient of her country’s highestsporting-accolade, and the first golfer to receive it. She received this awardin 2002 and 2007 to. During her professional career, she was the top-rankedgolfer in the world for more than three years. She also won two majorchampionships, the 2007 Ricoh British Women’sOpen and 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship。

　　Off the course, she has founded successful appareland golf accessories lines, a sports management company, a golf coursearchitecture firm Ochoa Hills, and golf academy, and the Fundacion Lorena Ochoafor teens and children。
