Beijing, China, June 23, 2010 – The Mission Hills Star Trophy hasreaffirmed its position as Asia’s leading lifestyle entertainment event withmovie stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, swimming legend MichaelPhelps and long-time world number one women’s golfer Lorena Ochoa among sixnames added to the field today.

Also confirmed for theinaugural event, to be played from October 28-31 at Mission Hills ·Haikou inHainan, China, today are actor Christian Slater and Japan’s US PGA TOUR winnerRyuji Imada.

They join movie stars HughGrant, twice Taiwan Golden Horse award winner Aaron Kwok and MatthewMcConaughey, Greg Norman, Sir Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, Zhang Lian-wei,Annika Sorenstam, Se Ri Pak and Rosie Jones, the 2011 US Solheim Cup captain,that have previously confirmed they will play in Hainan thisOctober.         

The superstar participantswill be part of a field that includes 20 celebrities, 20professionals and 120amateurs at the four-day Mission Hills Star Trophy amateur teams of three willplay with a celebrity or professional golfer on the first two days of the eventin a team scramble format.

The weekend play will thenbe in four-ball stroke play format between 20 teams consisting of a celebrityand a professional, with a 36-hole individual professional even turningconcurrently on the Blackstone Course. The pro event offers a US$1.28millionfirst place cheque, the richest individual prize in Asian golf.

Akashiya Sanma, Japan’s leadingcomedian, China’s Olympic hero Li Ning and Hong Kong’s star Eric Tsang willalso be part of the Mission Hills Star Trophy.

Zeta-Jones, who just won anaward in the 64th Tony Awards and an Academy Award in 2002 for Chicago and playsgolf off a handicap of 20, will bring plenty of the glamour to the event alongwith husband Michael Douglas, a 12-handicapper and two-time Academy Award winnerhimself.

Said Zeta-Jones, ’Michaeland I are looking forward to visiting Hainan for the first time October. We aredelighted to participate in the Star Trophy, which will be a wonderful showcasefor golf in China and Mission Hills.’

Slater, who won the MTVMovie Award in 1993, for his work in Untamed Heart and the Broadcast FilmCritics Association Award for the Contender in 2001.

Said Slater, ‘I`m lookingforward to be in Hainan, China for the most exciting gold event of the year.’

Phelps, who won a recordeight gold medals in the pool in Beijing, is eagerly looking forward toreturning, ‘China will always have a special place in my heart, but to come backand have fun playing golf in Mission Hills will be a totally new experience forme. This will be a chance to relax, enjoy China and really see a different sideof one of my favourite countries.’

Hank Haney has taught more than200 touring professionals during his 30-years career, and his also a successfulauthor, golf course designer, businessman and television star.

He will serve as ‘HonoraryCoach’ for the event and will be on-hand to offer the celebrities swing tips,course management strategies and other support. Hank will also do some livecommentary for the tournament television coverage.

Brian Curley is theaward-winning architect behind the Mission Hills Star Trophy course design. The7,777-yard Blackstone course weaves through a striking landscape of black lavarock, featuring naturalistic designs seamlessly integrated in the nativesetting.

Ochoa, who recently retiredafter being ranked the world’s best female since 2007, ‘I am very excited abouttaking a break from my retirement for the first Mission Hills Star Trophy. Byoffering Asia’s richest first prize for professional golf, the Mission HillsStar Trophy will not only be great fun, but will showcase some fantastic golfas we take aim at that prize. Hopefully, my game is not too rusty after a fewmonths off!’

In2011, the OMEGA Mission Hills World Cup will also be played at Mission Hills ·Haikou.
