新浪体育讯 Accor was the first international hotel management company to enter China in 1985, with its first hotel opening in Guangzhou in 1988. Accor’s intention at the time was to open a series of traditional mid-product, three-star Novotels similar to those in Europe with 180-200 rooms each. Only later did the second generation of Novotels evolve into the larger four-star properties.

Accor currently operates a total of 44 hotels in China. All Accor hotels are situated in major metropolitan areas and gateway cities around the country. From the capital city of Beijing alone, major tourist attractions including the Forbidden City, Great Wall and the Ming Tombs can all be easily visited. Shanghai — China’s second largest city — is one of the fastest growing commercial and financial centers in the world. This exciting and glamorous city is well positioned for excursions to the West Lake of Hangzhou or the famous Shaolin Temples. Jinan, the birthplace of Confucius and the “City of Springs” is only slightly further a field.

Accor also has 64 hotels currently under development including 36 Ibis hotels. Sofitel Riverside Qingyuan, Sofitel Lakeside Hefei, Mercure Suzhou Park Hotel & Suites, Sofitel Wanda Beijing, Grand Mercure Guorong Dalian , Mercure Guorong Dalian are scheduled to open in 2007. Sofitel Guangzhou, Sofitel Forebase Chongqing, Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16, Grand Mercure Yalong Bay Resort & Spa, Sanya, Novotel World Trade Nanjing, Novotel Beijing West, Sofitel Sheshan Resort Shanghai, Sofitel Qiandao Lake Resort, Sofitel Financial Center Nanchang, Sofitel Wanda Harbin, Sofitel Qingdao, Sofitel Fizi Tianmu Lake, Novotel Nailun Hohhot, Novotel Phoenix City Beijing and Ibis Phoenix City Beijing will be open in 2008. With numerous projects under negotiation in various key cities in China, Accor is well prepared and positioned to expand its China network.

Accor’s major corporate offices in Asia Pacific region are located in Sydney and Bangkok. Accor’s corporate office in Shanghai serves the function of coordinating hotel operations and development in China. Accor is currently the largest and fastest growing hotel management group in the Asia Pacific region with over 286 hotels (53,505 rooms). In addition, some 107 hotels are scheduled to join the network over the next two years.

Being widely considered as the world’s largest hotel and tourism group - Accor’s hotel brands cover a full spectrum of the accommodation market, thereby offering travelers the most comprehensive selection of hotel styles and locations. Accor’s main hotels brands include: Sofitel (deluxe), Novotel (first class), Mercure (a multi-tiered mid-market brand), Ibis (economy class) and Formule 1 (budget).
