PREVIEW INTERVIEW-JOHN DALY

　　You seem to have many fans all over the world? What do you think is your appeal to the fans?

　　I don’t know (smiles). Cos I’m overweight and out of shape (laughs). Maybe they can relate to the fact that I have my share of ups and downs. Everyone has problems and I’m one person who is never afraid to talk about my problems. It helps me get through it.

　　You lost your card on the US PGA Tour, but you never seem to lack the chance to play in tournaments. What do you do think of all the exemptions given to you?

　　I believe I’ve done a lot for the game golf in the last 16 years and I’ve helped a lot of tournaments. This year, I still have 16 events to play and hopefully this will help me gain some world ranking points.

　　We know you love writing songs and playing the guitar. Did you write anything on the way from Shanghai to Beijing? Have you thought of making music your second career?

　　(smiles) I didn’t bring my guitar. Music to me is a lot of fun, meeting all these legendary musicians be it from rock, pop, jazz, country. A lot of musicians play golf, I teach them golf and they teach me how to play the guitar. Every time I walk into my room which has over 120 guitars, I feel really good. Music is a good hobby for me.

　　What are your thoughts about Hole 14? Do you think it’s the most difficult?

　　I thought the 17th was the most difficult. About the 14th, I played it on Sunday practice using a three iron. I played it against the wind and I managed to make the green. There’s a sharp slope behind the green so you got to be accurate. All the par-3s are pretty long but they have great views.
