1992年巴塞罗那奥运会，来自明斯克（白俄罗斯首都）的20岁体操选手维塔利·谢尔博，以独特的夺取金牌的方式进入史册。
谢尔博首先率领独联体队夺得男子体操团体冠军，他随后又在男子体操个人全能比赛中封王。
在8月2日的比赛中，谢尔博又参加了单项比赛的争夺，并先后夺得双杠、吊环、跳马比赛的金牌，并在鞍马比赛中与一名朝鲜选手并列第一，成为首位在一天夺得4枚金牌的选手，他同时也是第一个在一届奥运会夺得6枚金牌的体操选手。
