From Hospital Bed to Gold Medal 从病榻站起来的冠军

　　During the endurance test of the 1960 eventing event,45-year-oldBill Roycroft of Australia was thrown from his horse andreceived abroken collarbone. He was sent to a hospital, but he knewthat ifhe withdrew, his team would be disqualified. So the nextday,Roycroft center his hospital bed and competed in the jumpingtest.This allowed the Australians to win gold medals. Over the next16years, three of Roycrofts sons represented Australia attheOlympics. Bill himself competed fou r more times and earnedbronzemedals in 1968 and 1976 in the eventing team Mixed.

　　在1960年罗马奥运会马术三日团体赛越野比赛中，45岁的澳大利亚选手比尔·罗伊克罗夫特不幸从马上摔下，锁骨骨折，被送到医院治疗。但考虑到自己如果退出比赛，全队的成绩也将被取消，他在第二天悄悄离开医院，并参加了当天进行的障碍赛，澳大利亚队也因此夺得该项比赛的金牌。

　　在此后16年里，罗伊克罗夫特的3个儿子都代表澳大利亚参加了奥运会，而他自己也参加了随后进行的4届奥运会，并在1968年和1976年的三日赛团体和个人比赛中夺得两枚铜牌。
